They are creating media that solely is aimed at a female demographic and portrays an over-glorified, or over-sexualized exaggeration of an mlm relationship, with little care or understanding of how such a relationship actually develops and functions. What I have seen though is the people who fetishize those relationships want to exclude actual men from their target audience. I'm a man who likes men, and I have seen women fetishize mlm relationships, and it does make me feel a tiny bit uncomfortable, though I try not to take it personally.
This also goes for people who like media that glorifies wlw or mlm relationships, while not actually supporting the LGBTQ+ community. For example, straight men who are homophobic but fetishize lesbians because 'It's hot' and they only see them as sexual objects. Theres is a difference between enjoying mlm or wlw content abd fetishizing it.Īs I've understood it, fetishization begins when you are only interested in the relationship and don't see the people involved as actual people.
